About Janine Anthony

Janine is an award-winning professional with 14 years’ experience in Journalism and Communications, Digital Media and Business Management. She is a Presenter and Reporter for the BBC World Service and is BBC Sport Africa’s West Africa Team Lead. In June 2019, Janine became the first African woman to lead football commentaries at a major men’s tournament for a rights holder, making history at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

As a Sports Business Executive and Entrepreneur, she founded LadiesMarch; Africa’s first all- women’s football network, and has worked with global brands including FIFA, IMG’s Premier League Productions (which produces the English Premier League), German Bundesliga and Italian Serie A rights holder – StarTimes, YouTube, the Guardian UK and many more.

Janine loves watching football while ensuring equality of the game for women in football through different forms which include but not limited to mentorship, advocacy, and fund-raising
